Description
Polycarbonate opal is a strong and durable plastic sheet with a milky, translucent appearance. Just like clear polycarbonate, the material is extremely impact-resistant - up to 250 times stronger than glass - and therefore ideal for applications where, for example, security plays an important role: it is hufterproof and burglar-resistant. The opal colour provides a soft appearance.
Polycarbonate opal is UV-resistant, has an excellent fire rating (Bs1d0) and is therefore also suitable for use in public areas. Due to its high temperature resistance, the material is self-extinguishing and fire-retardant.
A major advantage of polycarbonate is that it can be cold bent without risk of breakage or cracking. This makes it versatile and easy to process. The sheets are also 50% lighter than glass, making handling and assembly easier.
